Refit of GUILLEMOT, a performance cruising sloop
Guillemot initially underwent a mini-refit at JFA Yachts in 2020 and then returned in September 2020 for a more extensive winter refit. Built at the renowned Vitters Shipyard, Guillemot (initially Gimlä) is a 43m (141 ft) high performance sailing sloop. The yacht was built to high standards in 2004 and launched that same year with her modern interior being revealed at the Monaco Yacht Show.
A key element of the refit is the change in hull color; it has been repainted in a metallic color. The superstructure has also been repainted along with the mast and boom. In addition, the interior has been upgraded following design studies by Wetzels and Brown partners. and has resulted in the yacht being modernized with a fresh appearance.
The refit projects have been overseen by Christian Poorte of A2B Marine Projects representing the Owner, with the worklist including a full strip down of the rig and captive winches for full service, a main engine overhaul, bow and stern thrusters and the deck hardware serviced, teak deck works, and finally an upgrade to the lazarette and toy storage.
Another major change was the replacement of the air conditioning and ventilation systems with energy efficient units making use of heat recovery and resulting in lower energy consumption while at the same time being quieter and more compact. The new HVAC systems also makes sure that there is no mixing of air through the ventilation systems.
In order to further optimize electrical consumption, the interior lighting has been changed from halogen to LED lighting. Other electronics and the entertainment systems have been also been thoroughly updated to the latest technology. This time spent at the yard allowed undertaking a full upgrade, service and maintenance programme will make Guillemot ready for a multiyear circumnavigation.
Guillemot is now in its last stage of the refit and will be relaunched in April ready for the summer season.
