New Explorer – 164′ Motor Yacht
A new generation of Explorer Vessel.
We are proud to unveil this Explorer Vessel built in aluminium, developed with Dixon Yacht Design for the naval architecture and Franck Darnet Design for the interiors. The design brief corresponds to a contemporary 164’ Explorer Vessel under 500 GT. A thorough study was undertaken to ensure a long range yacht with reasonable fuel consumption. Aluminium was chosen as the construction material in order to keep the weight down and for easy maintenance. The interior design is contemporary and will be fashioned from light oak panels sheathed in white fabrics.

The new 164’ design for JFA Yachts represents Dixon Yacht Design’s vision for a modern exploration vessel. With the design teams experience also in large sailing Superyachts, one can see the influence that this has brought to the design with its emphasis on a long waterline length and aluminum construction to reduce displacement resulting in a lower resistance hull form resulting in an increased range for a given speed. With the emphasis on the efficiencies of a long waterline, the hull and superstructure volumes have been optimized to keep the resulting design under the 500 GT. The resulting superstructure is less dominant than typical sub 500 GT designs, which should result in a more comfort and stability. The interior plan and deck layout will emphasize a design with exploring and cruising at its heart.
