Moonwave – 3.2 T of weight reduction
JFA Yachts just launched back Moonwave. This Gunboat 60’ built in 2012 has undertaken a significant refit at JFA Yachts focusing on improving boat’s performances. Boat’s crew has been deeply involved in project definition but also onboard all along the refit phases in order to optimize this carbon catamaran.
Main tasks have consisted in installing new carbon dagger boards, updating of the propulsion system, new carbon boom, new paint, checking all technical systems and rebuilding a major part of interiors following new design by Christophe Chedal Anglay.
Major evolution managed by the crew has been the upgrade of the Torqeedo electric propulsion for a full Deepblue Hybrid System. Retractable shaft system has been changed for saildrive system with foldable blades that can also generate power under sails. Battery pack has also significantly been improved (less weight, higher performances, compact system and sealed). Solar panels of latest technology have been installed on the roof. There is just one genset left, as a back up (2 genset before). Thanks to these innovations, Moonwave is truly a cutting edge, silent and very performant boat.
Thanks to the weight gained with the new propulsion system and systems and new interiors build in light material by the yard, the displacement has been reduced by 3.2T.
JFA Yachts is proud to have worked with this crew on such an innovative but also very fast boat. Moonwave is now back at sea.
